Baby #2: Eight Weeks

Dear Baby #2,

We love you so much! Daddy, Trenton, and I got to see your tiny little growing body last week in our first ultrasound! Though Trenton didn’t really want to sit still so Daddy could really see…It turns out that that you are smaller than we originally thought and this week you are actually 8 weeks. I thought we were a couple weeks further along. But your heartbeat was strong already and I loved seeing it beat on the ultrasound :) According to this ultrasound your official due date is October 21! But you need to come a day early like your brother so we can stick to our significant family event dates being on the 7th and 20th of the months :)

My belly is so big already! I had to pull out the maternity clothes for work around FIVE weeks…oh goodness. I hope this doesn’t mean I am going to look like a giant elephant come summer. I’ve been pretty sick this time around, but thankfully, no vomiting. Just a ton of nausea and some minor food/smell aversions. As long as I keep food in my stomach then it seems to help a bit. I did come to the realization the other day though, that when I was pregnant with Trenton, I could have very well had morning sickness, but I just didn’t know. See, for about five years before Daddy and I got married and was pregnant with Trenton, I had daily unexplained nausea and barely ate because of it. And after the first trimester with Trenton, all of that stopped. I sometimes joke that I should’ve gotten pregnant earlier just to cure my mystery illness :) So with Trenton I’m not sure if it was my normal nausea or baby nausea, or a mixture of both. And now that I have been nausea free for almost two years, the nausea with you is no fun at all! I definitely do not miss being sick every day. But at least this time I know it is because you are growing into a strong little person inside my belly!

Even though you can definitely tell I am pregnant, only a few people at work know. And that is really only because while I was in Dallas, TX for my firm meeting (the week after we found out about you!) I was eating tons of saltine crackers and drinking tons of ginger ale. So they are smart women and picked up on it :) I am hoping to wait until at least 10-11 weeks to tell my team though, but we will see how much more I can hide you! I’m sort of just hoping everyone thinks I’m getting fat instead…But of course, later this week someone asked me (that didn't know) if I was pregnant...! yikes. I guess I do officially look pregnant....I am just banking on the fact that A. most men are clueless when it comes to this stuff and B. most men would never ask a woman if she was pregnant.

Daddy and I did pick out a couple of girls names if you are a girl! But we are still arguing on boys names if you are boy….We will get to find out in May though and I can’t wait!

I am still nursing your brother, even though I don't think I am producing much milk anymore. He only nurses 2-3 times a day though so I am still hoping he will continue to self-wean over the next few months. I don't necessarily want to nurse a toddler and a baby, but I'm not entirely sure how to gently wean so it seems at this rate I may be nursing you both until your four! I'm sure that is an exaggeration, but that's okay :)

I want to make sure I document every pregnancy the same way so each one of my children can have a book of their life one day and no one will feel left out. So like I did with Trenton, here is my monthly photo of you in my belly! At eight weeks with you, I am the same size I was at 12 weeks with Trenton. Yikes...!
